Description
The bootloader on Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 was unlockable until the November 2019 Security Patch release. In December, Nokia released a major update which fixed a number of bugs. The update also disabled the bootloader unlock ability. Now, if you want to unlock the bootloader on Nokia 6.2 and 7.2, the only way currently is to downgrade the phone to the old software.
It is not possible on the user’s end to do the downgrade. So, your only option is to get it done at Nokia Care. Alternatively, you can buy our unlock service and we will do the downgrade remotely over TeamViewer.
Once downgraded, you will be able to unlock the bootloader as explained in several other guides.
Question

Hey guys, would you by any chance happen to provide the following combo service: bootloader unlock – rooted LineageOS 19.0 install [ https://xdaforums.com/t/closed-rom-12-0-starlord-lineageos-19-0-unofficial.4001273/ ] ?
I’m a bit afraid to do all this by myself and was wondering if that was a thing you could handle and do remotely.
Thanks in advance :]

Question
P. Kirsch –
I alread read the question of J. Stam regarding full image recovery and you said, data is encrypted by default.
So now my question is now, does this apply to all kind of data? I’m only interessed in images as they have a sentinental value to me, but done by accident already an factory reset. so all data is wiped but not overwritten yet!? So is there any chance to recover some of them after downgrade and rooting the device?
Thanks in advance and have a great day.
Device is a Nokia 7.2

Hi, with data I meant all the data partitions, including the
/data
mount point and including the internal storage (/storage/emulated/0/
or/sdcard/
). Unfortunately, there’s no way to recover deleted data from Android phones post a factory reset due to the encryption. Although I’m not sure if some experienced data experts can desolder the emmc and readback from it to do some recovery, I am pretty confident that it is not possible from the phone directly and hence beyond the capabilities of a regular user. I’ll recommend that you stay away from articles and apps claiming to recover data once you provide them with root access.Upvote if this was helpful (0) Downvote if this was not helpful (0) Flag for removal

Question
J. Stam –
Ultimate goal for me is to downgrade, obtain root, and image-dump internal storage (mmcblk0) to recover deleted files. Will a downgrade wipe internal storage (low-level) ?
Thanks in advance

Hi, the bootloader unlock does wipe internal storage (yes) and all userdata will be erased. Moreover, since internal storage is encrypted by default on Android, you will not have access to the encryption key in order to decrypt the data even if you recover something. As such, I do not believe that you can recover any data from the device once it is deleted. The efforts will likely go in vain.

They downgraded my phone using TeamViewer also unlocked the bootloader on my Nokia 7.2 after the downgrade. Works absolutely as advertised. Will recommend to anybody looking to unlock their Nokia 7.2.
But it is also better to just unlock straight after you buy the Nokia. Saves a lot of effort and your money too.
